NORTH PORT, FL – The City of North Port has selected Vinicia “Vinnie” Mascarenhas as its Economic Development Manager, officials announced Friday.
Mascarenhas joined the City team in September 2022 as a Marketing & Business Development Specialist. Since December, she has served as the Interim Economic Development Manager, leading the City’s efforts to help local businesses recover from Hurricane Ian and to market North Port’s attractiveness to much-needed commercial and industrial development.
“With over 20 years of experience working in local, state, and federal levels of government and in the private sector, Vinnie brings a wealth of knowledge to our team,” said City Manager Jerome Fletcher. “During her time in the interim role the past six months she has demonstrated her skill in developing strategic partnerships and her enthusiasm for the City and our mission. We look forward to her and her team continuing to support North Port’s steep economic growth trajectory and the exciting possibilities that lie ahead.”
Mascarenhas previously served as Marketing Communications Manager for Sarasota-based U.S. Submergent Technologies and was the Communications Manager for Global Tel*Link in Reston, Va. Her past work experience includes positions with the Anne Arundel County (Maryland) Office of Personnel, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the National Association of Broadcasters, the State of Maryland and the Maryland Department of Transportation.
“We have a phenomenal leadership team at the City of North Port, and I’m humbled to have been selected for this role,” Mascarenhas said. “With so many transformative projects already in the works across our 104 square miles, from health care expansions to infrastructure improvements and more to come, this is an exciting time for economic development, job creation and the future of North Port.”
