Annie Roberson

employee spotlight

Annie Roberson Sparks Imagination at the Library ✨

Annie Roberson has always had a natural ability to connect with people. Before joining the Library in 1999 as a library page, she held a variety of roles centered around helping others, including preschool teacher, after-school care counselor and site director for the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA). Her early experience supporting developmentally disabled adults and working in customer service at Royal Caribbean International helped shape her strong foundation in public service.

Today, as the Youth Services Specialist at the Edison Center Branch Library, Annie creates joyful, engaging programming for children with the help of her talented team.

What is your favorite part about working for the Library?
Creating moments of escape. Whether it’s a fun conversation with our library's youth or the imagination that comes alive during storytimes and craft programs, I love offering a break from the world’s difficulties. Life can be tough, and if I can help someone have fun or learn something new, I feel rewarded knowing I’ve made a difference.

What was the last book or eBook you read and what did you think of it?
The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins. It reminded me that I don’t need to chase, fix or stress over people or situations. I can just let the world do its thing while I sip my tea and protect my peace like it’s a rare artifact. I’m not in control, and that’s okay!

Are you working on any new/upcoming projects?
I’m toying with the idea of starting a birthday club for kids. So many children never get to experience something as simple as making a wish and blowing out a birthday candle. I’m still working out the details, but I think it’ll be a hit.

Is there anything else you’d like to let us know about yourself?
I’m a rusty American Machine & Foundry-sanctioned professional bowler. I also love karaoke and am currently practicing to be a contestant on the game show Wheel of Fortune. Wish me luck!
