Meet Carlos Morejon from the Library's Collection Development Team 🤝
Carlos Morejon has always pursued personal growth and learning in his life. This drive led him to join the Library in 2001 as a Library Assistant at the Fairlawn Branch Library. Before discovering his career path at the Library, Carlos gained diverse work experience, including customer service, at supermarkets, pizza chains and hardware stores.
Now serving as a Library Acquisitions Administrator in our Collection Development Division, which is responsible for selecting, acquiring and managing the Library's collection of books, media and digital resources, one of his primary duties is overseeing the Library's newspaper and magazine subscriptions.
What inspired you to pursue a Library career? I was inspired by the chance to grow intellectually while helping others. The Library offered a unique opportunity to combine my passion for knowledge with community service, leading me to pursue a master’s in library and information science to achieve both professional and personal development.
What is your favorite part about working for the Library? I really enjoy the opportunity to solve technical challenges that impact our daily operations. I love diving into research, finding solutions and creating more efficient workflows. It’s incredibly satisfying to discover new ways to streamline our processes and enhance the service we provide to our patrons.
What was the last book or eBook you read and what did you think of it? I’m currently reading The Secret Doctrine: The Synthesis of Science, Religion, and Philosophy by Helena Blavatsky. It’s a fascinating book that presents intriguing viewpoints on faith and the origins of the universe. The depth of thought and exploration of these topics have been both challenging and enlightening, making it an engaging read.
Do you have a favorite Library program or event? Definitely the Library’s annual employee United Way Bowling Tournament. It's always a blast! We get to bond as a team while supporting a great cause. I look forward to it every year.
Is there anything else you’d like to let us know about yourself? I enjoy sports and gardening in my free time. Both activities offer a great balance to my work life, keeping me active and connected to nature.
