Ivan Delgado Shares his Passion for Creativity at YOUmedia Miami
Fascinated with technology and trying new things, Ivan Delgado joined the Miami-Dade Public Library System’s YOUmedia Miami team in October 2021. Prior to working for the Library, he served as a Graphic Design Specialist at Miami Dade College’s Hialeah Campus creating advertisements and promotional material.
Ivan now strives to innovate new ways to teach patrons digital media literacy at our YOUmedia spaces at the North and South Dade Regional Libraries and Lemon City and Hialeah Gardens Branch Libraries, where they have the opportunity to learn new skills in podcasting, 3D modeling, film and music production, graphic design and much more!
What is the most rewarding aspect of working at YOUmedia Miami? Seeing patrons’ “aha” moments when learning a new digital media skill during our workshops and as they create their own projects. That kind of excitement for learning is infectious and is very encouraging to witness.
What is your favorite Library resource? Our partnership with LinkedIn Learning, bar none. Having access to free learning on so many topics is fantastic. I frequently use it to train on the many programs we provide at YOUmedia, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple’s Digital Audio Workstation Logic Pro X and more!
Are you working on any new/upcoming projects? Currently, I'm teaching patrons 3D modeling in Blender, a free computer graphics software tool. Patrons can also have their models printed using our 3D printers!
Anything else you’d like our readers to know about you? I’m an illustrator! I love to develop stories and create original character designs. I also have a sizable library of artbooks, my favorite being The Art of NASA: The Illustrations That Sold the Missions. It's an inspiring look into the visual development of NASA’s greatest technological achievements.
