The North Central Branch Library has Reopened!

We are excited to let you know that renovation of the North Central Branch Library is now complete and the branch has reopened as of Tuesday, June 22, 2021!

The branch has been updated and modernized, and we hope you enjoy the many improvements that have been made, including:

  • New flooring and furniture
  • A/C system upgrades
  • Additional public computers
  • Updated electrical and IT infrastructure
  • New digital signage and flat screen TV monitors
  • Restroom upgrades
  • Interior and exterior painting
  • Updated landscaping and signage

The North Central Branch Library is located at 9590 NW 27 Avenue, Miami, FL, 33147, and is open for service from Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

In addition to the above, we want to remind you of some other valuable programs and services that we encourage you to use:

  • If you don’t have internet access at home, ask any library branch employee about our Tablet Lending Program. You can check out a tablet with built-in wireless internet access and Wi-Fi capability that you can take home and use for free with your library card.

  • If you want to avoid the “summer slide” and sharpen your skills for school, join the 2021 Summer Reading Challenge. Every 30 minutes you spend reading or listening to a book through August 7 earns you an entry into a drawing for great prizes. The more you read, the greater your chances of winning! eBooks, eAudiobooks, comic books, magazines, and reading to your child – all reading counts, so search the catalog to get started. All you need is a library card.

  • The Homework Help & Tutoring Program is also available to help avoid the "summer slide" with free one-on-one online tutoring sessions from certified teachers. Visit www.mdpls.org/tutor or call 305-375-1413 for more information.

  • The Summer Meals at the Library program provides a seven-day supply of packaged breakfasts and lunches for Children 18 years and under at 13 participating library locations on select days and times through August 6.

If you have any questions, please email customercare@mdpls.org.

Save the Bay Through Smarter Gardening With Compost

Fertilizers make our lawns green and our gardens lush, but did you know that these excess nutrients can harm local marine populations? Miami-Dade County has passed regulations that prohibit the use of fertilizers from May 15 to October 31. You can still keep your landscape beautiful and vibrant with natural fertilizer alternatives like compost. Sign up for an interactive online workshop and learn how to make your own nutrient-rich soil – it's sustainable and plants love it! Space is limited. Ages 19 years and up.
