Big Read 2021

Join Us In The 2021 Big Read

Join us for a discussion about the National Endowment for the Arts 2021 Big Read title, Lab Girl by Hope Jahren. The memoir tells the story of Jahren's upbringing in rural Minnesota and how she discovered her love of science, later becoming an acclaimed scientist in her own right. The book is available for checkout online and at our branches. Participants will receive a free copy of the book (while supplies last)Space is limited. Ages 19 years and up.

In the spotlight

The Children's Trust Book Club

It’s never too early to help your child develop a love for reading! Our partners at The Children’s Trust have launched their new and improved Book Club, offering free monthly books by mail for children who live in Miami-Dade County from birth up to their fifth birthday.

Book Club members will receive a new book every month in either English or Spanish, along with a guide for parents with activities and information on how to share the book with their children. Titles include classics, award-winners and picture books designed to engage even the youngest of readers.
