MDPLS Earns Three NACo Achievement Awards
The Miami-Dade Public Library System has been recognized with three
Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo). The awards
honor innovative, effective county government programs that enhance services
for residents. In the category of Libraries, MDPLS was awarded for:
Passport Application Program - The South Dade Regional Library is an official
Passport Application Acceptance Facility for the U.S. Department of State.
YOUmake Miami – MDPLS's first makerspace located at the Miami Beach Regional Library gives patrons of all ages the opportunity to learn everything from sewing and painting to 3D
printing and multimedia.
Online Payment
for Fines and Fees – Making library use more convenient, patrons are able to
pay their fines and fees online with a credit card.
Started in 1970, NACo’s annual Achievement Award Program is designed to
recognize innovative county government programs. Each nominee is judged on its
own merits and not against other applications received.
MDPLS is always looking for innovative ways to better serve our patrons and we’re proud to be recognized for our efforts.
