Bully netting and barracuda workshops scheduled for late February and early March
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is hosting several public workshops in late February and early March to gather public input on commercial bully netting for spiny lobster and on barracuda. These workshops are in response to requests and concerns from the public.
The bully netting workshops will focus on commercial license requirements, commercial harvest limits and other potential management measures and are scheduled for the following locations (all are from 6 to 8 p.m. EST):
- Feb. 23: Key West, Harvey Government Center – BOCC Room, 1200 Truman Ave.
- Feb. 24: Key Colony Beach, City Hall, 600 E. Ocean Drive
- Feb. 26: Key Largo, Murray Nelson Government Center – Auditorium, 102050 Overseas Highway
At the barracuda workshops, staff will gather public input on potential regulation changes such as commercial and recreational bag limits, size limits, gear restrictions, region-specific regulations or other related management options for barracuda. These workshops are scheduled for the following locations (all are from 6 to 8 p.m. EST):
- Feb. 25: Key Colony Beach, City Hall, 600 E. Ocean Drive
- March 3: Dania Beach, International Game Fish Association Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum, 300 Gulf Stream Way
