As we wrap up 2013, I would like to wish everyone a healthy, happy and prosperous 2014. Thank you for helping us spread the word about Florida's outstanding freshwater fisheries resources and FWC's fisheries conservation efforts. Attached is the January Fish Busters' Bulletin featuring black crappie and our fishing sites/forecast efforts. I included several photos and the cutlines for them are below.
Cutlines:
CBeighley: Carter Beighley with a 2 pound speck caught in Deer Point Lake, Bay County.
Charford-2-3: Charles Harford holds up two nice slab-sided crappie from Lake Dias, Volusia County.
CHarford-crappie: Charles Harford, shows off a 2 lbs, 9 oz crappie from Lake Monroe, Seminole County.
BlackCra—This illustration by Duane Raver, Jr. shows the symmetrical back (dorsal) and belly (anal) fins and speckled pattern that result in black crappie also being called speckled perch or just specks.
