Each year FWC stocks hybrid striped bass into the Harris Chain to provide an additional sportfish for anglers to target. In the past three years, FWC has stocked over 400,000 hybrids into the Harris Chain (Lakes Harris and Eustis). This week, FWC stocked catchable size (12-16”) hybrid striped bass into Lake Harris. Research biologists surgically implanted radio telemetry tags into these fish to track their movement throughout the lake. In 2017, a research survey showed that anglers would potentially target hybrids more if they better knew how to catch them. Our tagging study seeks to answer this question by determining movement patterns and habitat use throughout the lake.
