Python Patrol is a no-cost training program that aims to create a network of individuals throughout Florida who know how to identify Burmese pythons, report sightings and, in some cases, capture and humanely kill this invasive species. Python Patrol training is a virtual program, so participants can register from any state, not just Florida!

Please note:

  • All Virtual Python Patrol trainings are FREE.
  • All participants must register prior to the event using Eventbrite.
  • Attendees of all ages are welcome, but please review the topic list to be sure the material is appropriate for you, your student or your child.

Burmese Pythons

Burmese pythons are a large, nonvenomous constrictor, not native to Florida. They are considered an invasive species due to their impacts to native wildlife, and the FWC considers control of invasive species a high priority to protect Florida’s native wildlife and natural resources.

How You Can Help

The FWC works with partners to manage Burmese pythons in a variety of ways, but we encourage the public to get involved, too! The FWC uses multiple programs for Burmese python removal and management efforts. Some programs allow and encourage public participation.
