Please take our survey!

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) would like your input on the snook, redfish, and spotted seatrout fisheries in your area.  You can help us by providing feedback through this online survey: Red Tide Short-term Management Options Survey

This survey will be open through April 18, 2021.  Before taking the survey, you can watch a video presentation for more information.

Why are we seeking feedback?

As you may know, FWC implemented short-term catch-and-release measures for snook, redfish and spotted seatrout in response to concerns about large-scale fish kills caused by the prolonged 2017-2019 red tide event.  The catch-and-release measures apply from Pasco County through Gordon Pass in Collier County, and they expire May 31, 2021.

FWC monitoring has not detected that the 2017-2019 red tide event had long-term negative effects on snook, redfish, and spotted seatrout populations.  However, stakeholder opinions on the health of these species and the continuation of catch-and-release measures are highly varied.  This is why we want to hear from more anglers, like you!

How were you selected for the survey?

You are receiving this email because you have a recreational saltwater fishing license and reside in southwest Florida.

How will this information be used?

Feedback gathered through this survey will help inform the FWC Executive Director and Commissioners about short-term management for these species after the catch-and-release measures expire.  Results of the survey will be presented at the May 2021 FWC Commission meeting.
