Quail Enhancement Area hunt dates and other opportunities

Hunting opportunities at the FWC's quail enhancement areas (QEAs) are available on the dates listed below. QEAs are located in specified wildlife management areas (WMAs) and feature land management activities that benefit bobwhites. Before you head afield, please review the wildlife management area regulations brochure for the area you wish to hunt. Learn more about quail hunting and management.

Quota Hunt QEA (requires permit)

Twin Rivers - Blue Springs Unit: January 9, 16, 23, 30 and February 6 and 13 

Non-quota Hunt QEAs

Apalachicola WMA: January 6, 9, 13, 16, and 20 

Blackwater WMA: January 6, 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, 30 and February 3, 6, 10, and 13 

Jennings Forest WMA: January 6, 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, 30 and February 3, 6, 10, and 13 

Three Lakes WMA: January 6, 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, 27, 30 and February 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, and 24

Returned Quota Hunt Permit Opportunities

Returned quota hunt permits may be applied for throughout the season during weekly reissue application periods. Permit availability is shown in real time, and weekly reissue applications are available for hunters between noon on Saturdays through noon on Tuesdays, with results posted at GoOutdoorsFlorida.com. 

Quail Hunting on Lands Outside of the WMA System

If you’re hunting quail on lands outside of the WMA system, you have through March 7. See season dates and bag limits.
