Description of Duties:

This position will assist the Division of Habitat and Species in responding to natural disasters with a primary focus on FWC’s wildlife management area system (WMA). Responsibilities are statewide in scope. The goal of this effort is to recover from and protect against damages and mitigate for hazards.

Responsibilities include assessing damage, project scoping, and overseeing the process of submitting public assistance requests for the Division. This includes working with staff to compile required project-related documentation, submitting and monitoring status of requests, and responding to information requests from FEMA as well as preparing status reports. This position serves as part of an agency-wide team working with FEMA and the Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM).

Position may assist with assessing WMA system facility safety needs and developing and implementing protocols and process to meet these needs as time permits.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge and experience working with FEMA’s public assistance program and all applicable laws, regulations and policies, and mitigation options. Strong preference given to applicants proficient with FEMA and FDEM portals.

Highly organized and possess strong planning and process management skills.

Able to collect and compile data.

Formulate procedures and apply all applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures

Highly skilled and experienced working with Excel.

Able to synthesize complex information and prepare and present status and other reports.

Able to assess damage, develop project scope and prepare cost estimates is strongly preferred.

Familiarity with construction project design and management is strongly preferred.

Able to establish productive working relationships with FWC staff and other agency personnel

Able to communicate well with both field and senior staff.

Preferred Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 4 years of professional experience in systems or management analysis, program planning, engineering or administrative work.  Preferably a Master Degree.
