Description of duties: This position requires proficient operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment for resource management purposes.  The type of equipment includes:  swamp buggies, ATVs, tractors, and mowers.  Other responsibilities include maintenance of roads, trails, fences, gates and signs, operation of a hunter check station, collection of biological samples (jawbones, tissue samples, etc.) from harvested animals, chemical treatment of exotic plants, and custodial functions such as trash pickup and camping area maintenance.  The person will also assist the biologist in activities such as prescribed burning and wildlife surveys and may assist in training and supervising seasonal personnel and volunteers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Ability and willingness to perform difficult physical work for extended and irregular periods, under adverse conditions, and in various extremes of weather. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and the ability to communicate with colleagues. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to safely, effectively, and proficiently use and maintain a variety of hand tools, vehicles, and equipment. Ability to plan and organize work assignments effectively and efficiently. Basic use of personal computers.
