Description of Duties: Responsibilities are to provide a broad range of communications and marketing expertise to the FWC’s Fish and Wildlife Research Institute.

 

The successful candidate's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Writing, editing, and coordinating content for monthly, quarterly and annual publications.
  • Edits and develops content for internal/external websites, reviews analytics.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with FWC staff, stakeholders and partner agencies.
  • Coordinates filming schedules with staff; films and edits videos.
  • Clarify and provide details on technical and complex fish and wildlife issues using plain language.
  • Prepares, fills and distributes agency publications, gives guided tours, represents agency at public and business gatherings to promote programs, services and mission.
  • Assists with event coordination/planning;
  • Collaborates on communications/marketing programs that are designed to keep the public informed of agency programs, services, accomplishments, or mission.
  • Assists in the coordination and response of Public Records Requests, Ask MyFWC questions.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in news reporting, editing, public relations, public information, advertising, marketing, mass communications or journalism can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, marketing, English or natural sciences with strong writing and editing skills. Candidate should be fluent in AP style.  

 

WHAT IS OPS EMPLOYMENT? Other Personal Services (OPS) temporary employer/employee relationship used solely for accomplishing short term or intermittent tasks. OPS employees do not fill established positions and may not be assigned the duties of any vacant authorized position. OPS employees are at-will employees and are subject to actions such as pay changes, changes to work assignment and terminations at the pleasure of the agency head or designee.
