Celebrate Florida Volunteer Month (April) and National Volunteer Week (April 15th-20th) with FWC!

The Northwest Region Volunteer Program has multiple upcoming volunteer events to celebrate volunteers in conservation. Click on an event for more information and to sign up for the event.

 April 15^th – Assemble scallop cages (Panama City)

• 12pm – 5pm:  Join FWRI staff in putting together cages that will be used to protect live scallops throughout a year-long scallop restoration project.

April 16^th – Assemble scallop cages (Panama City)

• 12pm – 5pm:  Join FWRI staff in putting together cages that will be used to protect live scallops throughout a year-long scallop restoration project.

April 20^th – Crayfish Habitat Restoration (Panama City)

• 9am – 12pm:  Remove overstory vegetation and growth to restore habitat back to natural conditions necessary for the Panama City Crayfish.

April 21^st – Litter Clean-up in Apalachicola National Forest (Tallahassee)

• 9am – 12pm:  Join the Coastal Plains Institute, US Forest Service, and FWC to remove trash and litter from a portion of the Apalachicola National Forest.

April 22^nd – Earth Day Litter Clean-up at Escribano Point WMA (Navarre/Milton)

• 8am – 12pm:  Kayakers and walkers are welcome at this Earth Day clean-up event.

April 25^th – Distribute scallop restoration materials (Panama City)

• 3pm – 7pm:  Help distribute materials and live scallops to volunteers participating in our Scallop-sitter program. Collect data on the scallops being distributed such as size.

April 28^th – Distribute scallop restoration materials (Panama City)

• 8am – 12pm:  Help distribute materials and live scallops to volunteers participating in our Scallop-sitter program. Collect data on the scallops being distributed such as size.

April 29^th – Distribute scallop restoration materials (Panama City)

• 8am – 12pm:  Help distribute materials and live scallops to volunteers participating in our Scallop-sitter program. Collect data on the scallops being distributed such as size.

All month long – Use the iNaturalist App to document species you see (Everywhere!)

• Help our biologists and other nature enthusiasts by documenting the species you see while out exploring Florida’s wildlife!
