Annual Salary Range: $34,501.48 - $40,000

This position requires 25% to 50% travel.
Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history check (fingerprints) in accordance with Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for directing a regional public information and media relations program for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Community Relations Office. Specific duties include:
Coordinating regional public information and media relations efforts with major emphasis on utilization of radio, television, and newspaper to provide distribution of information regarding Commission programs, activities and regulations, in accordance with the mission and priority issues of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).
Maintaining a professional and amicable relationship with television, radio, and print media representatives for disseminating information concerning FWC activities.
Serving as agency spokesman for regional media activities by initiating and responding in a timely manner to formal media contacts regarding FWC programs, activities and regulations.
Coordinating and distributing public information materials to media, welcome stations, and other outlets-to reach the public with the conservation message.
Representing the Community Relations Office at FWC meetings and on special assignments by regional director or division director.
Acting as public relations counsel for regional director and regional office staff in matters relating to FWC activities. Providing basic media training to staff who may be interviewed in the course of their work duties.
Planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining conservation information exhibits.
Providing photography and video support for regional hunting, fishing, fish and wildlife management practices, law enforcement and conservation subjects for use by the news and print media.
Assisting with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Flickr) during day-to-day operations and during FWC meetings or other media events. Serving as a backup during the social media coordinator’s absence. Serving as social media liaison, striving to educate other staff about effective use.
During FWC meetings, assisting with taking photographs, downloading presentation slides and social media.
Serving as additional assistance to the audio/visual crew in capturing and editing footage for internal use as well as for appropriate media outlets in a more timely and direct manner. Serving as a liaison, striving to educate and train peers about effective audio/visual operations.
Serving as a mentor and trainer for new Public Information Coordinators.
Courteously assisting FWC constituents to resolve questions or problems they may have in matters relating to the FWC, its programs or fish and wildlife conservation, generally. Seeking to garner public support for agency objectives and programs by serving Florida's citizens in a positive and proactive manner.
Timely and accurately processing and/or approving, as appropriate, vendor invoices and warrants for payment of goods received or services rendered to avoid automatic interest penalty payments to said vendors.
Adhering to the provisions and requirements for Section 215.422, F.S.; related State Comptroller's rules and the FWC invoice processing and warrant distribution procedures.
Other duties as assigned.

- Ability to edit and direct the dissemination of information for the media or the public.

- Ability to write, edit, lay out and coordinate the production of internal publications.
- Ability to write, edit, voice and transmit radio and television information programs.
- Ability to research topics and write and edit speeches.
