Sherri Collins, Palm Beach County ASA, honored as FWC Prosecutor of the Year
During the April 13 Commission meeting at Harbourside Place in Jupiter, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) honored Palm Beach County Assistant State Attorney Sherri Collins with the agency’s Prosecutor of the Year Award.
Sherri Collins is an Assistant State Attorney for Palm Beach County and is the director for training and ongoing legal education. She has set in motion a number of programs to help newer Assistant State Attorneys understand and prosecute FWC cases. In a large metropolitan county, she regularly puts resource and boating cases at the top of her priority list.
“Sherri’s dedication to her work and the assistance she and her team have given FWC in this region have been extraordinary. She is a valuable asset to us and helps us achieve our important conservation mission,” said Maj. Camille Soverel, FWC Regional Commander.
Collins spearheaded meetings with the FWC and her staff, allowing FWC officers the opportunity to present information to her ASAs regarding FWC cases. She took the time to teach at one of the FWC’s Investigations Section seminars, tailoring the material for FWC case preparation. She approved ride-alongs to provide her ASAs with insight regarding resource cases that FWC officers encounter every day.
In the courtroom, Sherri is prepared, enthusiastic and very thorough with examinations and cross-examinations. She makes herself available for questions any time of the day or night, and encourages other ASAs to do the same.
“We are thrilled to honor Sherri with this well-deserved award,” FWC Division Director Col. Curtis Brown said. “She has been a steadfast ally to the FWC in our mission to protect the people of Florida and conserve our natural resources.”
