Free bowhunting education course offered in Broward County

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering a free bowhunting education course in Broward County on Oct. 10 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Markham Park & Target Range, in the clubhouse near the trap and skeet fields, 16001 W. State Road 84, Sunrise.

Students will learn about safe and responsible tree stand usage, big game shot placement, and recovery. The course will provide students with hands-on experience shooting a bow and arrow on the range. Students are encouraged to bring their own equipment.

An adult must accompany children under the age of 16 at all times. Students should bring a pencil and paper with them to take notes.

Anyone born on or after June 1, 1975, must pass an approved hunter safety course and have a hunting license to hunt alone (unsupervised). The FWC course satisfies hunter-safety training requirements for all other states and Canadian provinces.

People interested in attending this course may register online and obtain information about future hunter safety classes at MyFWC.com/HunterSafety or by calling the FWC’s South Region Office at 561-625-5122.
