Job Description

This is a 40 hour per week, highly specialized position responsible for the procurement of diversified commodities and services for the FWC/Fish and Wildlife Research Institute, in St. Petersburg, and reports to the Regional Business Manager on site. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring the timely and ethical purchase of commodities and services in accordance with federal, state and agency laws rules and policies with special regard to Chapter 112 Florida Statutes.
  • Auditing P-card (Visa) transactions for accuracy and compliance with rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Entering applicable P-Card actions into the Agency Purchase Request system and FLAIR.
  • Serving as Subject Matter Expert providing up-to-date information to customers, vendors, and the public.
  • Accurately and efficiently maintaining procurement records and filing systems.
  • Monitoring and ensuring payment for services and commodities using MRE Web Focus and encumbrance reports.
  • Using MyFloridaMarketPlace to generate and/or audit purchase orders.
  • Assisting with the training of staff in p-card and purchasing systems, rules, policies and procedures.

Preferred Experience

Applicants having administrative or clerical experience with the State of Florida and working knowledge of FLAIR/SAMAS, MyFloridaMarketPlace, EDA, and APR within the State of Florida are encouraged to apply and may be given preference.

Knowledge, Skill(s), and Abilities

Knowledge of: the basic principles of procurement; and administrative and standard office principles, procedures and practices.

Skill in: performing basic mathematical calculations; oral and written communications; use of a personal computer; spreadsheet and word processing software; and demonstrated excellent customer service.

Ability to: understand and solve complex problems, interpret and follow complex rules, policies and procedures; show initiative, follow-through and work accurately with details, establish and maintain effective professional relationships; enter, gather and summarize data and prepare written reports.

WHAT IS OPS EMPLOYMENT? Other Personal Services (OPS) employment is a temporary employer/employee relationship used solely for accomplishing short term or intermittent tasks. OPS employees do not fill established positions and may not be assigned the duties of any vacant authorized position. OPS employees are at-will employees and are subject to actions such as pay changes, changes to work assignment, and terminations at the pleasure of the agency head or designee.
