The election countdown is on, and it's a busy time here in the Elections Office! Election poll worker training began this week, and the first day of early voting is 17 days away, on August 8. Ballots were mailed to voters who requested to vote by mail on July 9. Many have already voted and have begun returning them to the office by mail and in person. All mail ballot requests expired after the Presidential election cycle. It's not too late to get your mail ballot! Summer vacation plans have many voters in Flagler County calling to make a request. You can also request a mail ballot online: Request A Mail Ballot

Florida is a Closed Primary State
Florida is a closed Primary state. If you wish to vote for a partisan office in this Primary Election, you must be a registered voter in the party for which the Primary is being held.
All registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, may vote in Universal Primary Contests, nonpartisan races and city candidates in a Primary Election.
All registered voters may vote in nonpartisan races:
- School Board Members
- Judicial Offices
- City of Palm Coast Council Members
The deadline to register to vote or update your party affiliation for this Primary Election was July 20, 2026. This deadline has passed. Party changes and new registrations received after July 20, 2026 will be deferred until after this election.

Primary elections typically have a low turnout, less than 30%, despite the fact that EVERY VOTER may cast a ballot in these elections. All voters, regardless of political party affiliation, are eligible to vote for nonpartisan contests. These races are important! Several nonpartisan races will be decided in the Primary.
Which races will be decided in August?
County-wide nonpartisan contests with two candidates are always decided in a Primary Election. All voters are eligible to vote for these races, and they will be DECIDED in August.
- Circuit Judge, 7th Judicial Circuit, Group 26
- School Board, District 1
- School Board, District 2
Nonpartisan contests with more than two candidates can be decided in the Primary if one candidate receives a majority of the vote (over 50%).
All voters are eligible to vote for School Board. Only City of Palm Coast voters may vote for City Council Members. County Commission and School Board districts are voted countywide. You may vote for both of ALL County Commission and School Board districts in the Primary Election. City of Palm Coast districts are voted citywide. You may vote for ALL City Council districts in the Primary Election.

What's our average turnout in a Primary?
Less than 30% of voters on average care enough to vote for the future of our community during a Primary election. The turnout percentage in 2024 was only 29.20%
