In recognition of Florida Redevelopment Week, take a closer look at how decades of public and private investment have helped shape Downtown Dunedin. When the City of Dunedin Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) was formed in 1988, the assessed value of commercial property in Downtown was $35 million. Today, it's more than $305 million, reflecting the growth and investment of the Downtown business community. See how the CRA, local businesses and community partners have worked together to help shape the vibrant Downtown we know today.

Property Tax Town Hall Recap: Watch the September 15 Discussion
Dunedin residents gathered at the Hale Senior Activity Center on Tuesday, September 15, for the City’s Property Tax Town Hall Meeting. The event provided an opportunity for community members to learn more about property taxes in Dunedin and potential changes to Florida’s property tax structure ahead of the November general election.
The event featured former Florida state Sen. Jeff Brandes, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri and Dunedin Mayor Maureen “Moe” Freaney, with Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce President Charlie Justice serving as moderator.
The discussion focused on property taxes and their role in funding local services as well as potential changes to Florida’s property tax structure and what they could mean for Dunedin.
A second Property Tax Town Hall Meeting is scheduled for October 6 at the Hale Senior Activity Center. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and will be livestreamed on Facebook, YouTube and Spectrum Cable 639.

City to Celebrate 30 Years of Partnership With the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office
The City of Dunedin and Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their partnership on Thursday, October 8 at Dunedin City Hall.
The public is invited arrive at 5:30 p.m. to view a display of vehicles and other equipment used by the Sheriff’s Office and City departments.
The ceremonial portion of the program will begin at 6 p.m. and include remarks from Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri and Dunedin Mayor Maureen “Moe” Freaney.
The celebration will occur during the regularly scheduled Dunedin City Commission Meeting, which will resume at 6:45 p.m. The equipment display will remain open until 7:30 p.m.

In Photos: Dunedin Remembers September 11
The City of Dunedin marked the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with its first City remembrance ceremony, held on the morning of Friday, September 11.
The community gathered at City Hall to honor those who lost their lives and recognize the first responders who answered the call to serve. Mayor Maureen “Moe” Freaney reflected on how so many remember exactly where they were when they learned of the attacks. City Manager Jennifer Bramley and members of Dunedin Fire Rescue also shared messages of remembrance, honoring the lives lost and the importance of never forgetting.
The ceremony included a presentation of colors by the Dunedin Fire Rescue Honor Guard and a memorial tribute by the Dunedin Pipe Band.

Shop Local at the Downtown Dunedin Sidewalk Sale
The Downtown Dunedin Sidewalk Sale returns Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20, with special offers and shopping throughout Downtown.
Nearly every Downtown retailer will participate, with sidewalk displays, promotions and a variety of items, including apparel, jewelry, gifts, home decor and more.
The sidewalk sale runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Visitors are encouraged to explore local shops, discover new finds and enjoy dining and shopping throughout Downtown Dunedin.

Celebrate World Car Free Day in Dunedin
Celebrate World Car-Free Day in Dunedin on Saturday, September 19, from 2:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., starting at Josiah Cephas Weaver Park on Bayshore Boulevard. Participants can register for an event passport, then walk or bike along the Pinellas Trail to visit participating Downtown Dunedin businesses for specials and activities.
Hosted by Connect Pinellas and Joy Rides Dunedin in partnership with the City of Dunedin, the event is the first of its kind in the City. It celebrates the many ways people can get around car-free by encouraging participants to swap their vehicles for more sustainable options, including walking, biking and public transit, such as the Jolly Trolley’s Coastal Route.
City Commissioner Jeff Gow will be a guest speaker at the event. The Clearwater Ferry will also offer 50% off fares for the day.

Free Health Screenings at the Hale Senior Activity Center
The Hale Senior Activity Center is offering several free health screenings in September, including hearing, blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol screenings.

Free Hearing Health Screening: Miracle-Ear of Dunedin will offer free hearing health screenings at the Hale Senior Activity Center on Tuesday, September 22, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. No appointment is necessary.

BayCare Community Health Screening: BayCare Community Health will offer free health screenings at the Hale Senior Activity Center on Wednesday, September 23, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Screenings include blood pressure, BMI, glucose and cholesterol checks. BayCare nurses will conduct the screenings and will be available to answer questions and provide general health information. No registration is required.
The Hale Senior Activity Center also offers free blood pressure checks at 9 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month and free memory screenings by appointment.
