Safely Navigating the New Skinner Boulevard Roundabouts
Skinner Boulevard is now open to traffic in both directions following the completion of two single-lane roundabouts at Highland and Douglas avenues. Here are tips for navigating them safely:
- Slow down. The speed limit on Skinner Boulevard from Main Street/Bass Boulevard to Broadway is now set at 25 mph.
- Yield when entering. Vehicles already in the roundabout have the right of way.
- Be alert to pedestrians and bicyclists.
- Use your signal when exiting the roundabout to let other drivers know your intended path.

Property Taxes: An Investment in Dunedin's Quality of Life
With potential changes to Florida’s property tax system on the horizon, the City of Dunedin wants residents to understand how property taxes work, where the money goes and why these revenues are essential to maintaining the community’s high quality of life.
For fiscal year 2026, the City expects to collect nearly $18 million in property tax revenue. That money will support essential services and capital projects.
Here’s the breakdown: For every dollar paid in property taxes, about 26 cents goes to Pinellas County for sheriff patrols, parks, social services and other functions. About 36 cents supports Pinellas County Schools, 15 cents funds special districts such as transit and EMS, and 23 cents comes back to the City of Dunedin. The City’s portion helps pay for law enforcement, fire and emergency services, parks, the library and road maintenance.

Code Compliance Staff Recognized with Bright Spark Award
Code Compliance employees Julie Phillips and Michelle Gilbert have received the City’s Bright Spark Award for coordinating a community cleanup project. The award honors employee contributions that go beyond the scope of regular duties and make a meaningful impact on the city.
Earlier this summer, Phillips and Gilbert joined volunteers from VFW Post 2550, First Presbyterian Church of Dunedin and the Dunedin Rotary Club to assist an elderly Vietnam War veteran with property maintenance. Together, the group cleared the exterior of the veteran’s home, which had become difficult for him to manage on his own.
“It was very rewarding to work hands on with a team all focused on helping,” Phillips said. “We made a difference in someone’s life who could not do it himself.”
City officials describe the cleanup as a strong example of community collaboration and thank Phillips and Gilbert for their leadership in bringing together staff and volunteers.
