Permanent Sales Tax Break for Disaster Supplies
Florida residents can now stock up on emergency supplies without waiting for a tax holiday. A new state law makes sales tax exemptions for disaster preparedness items permanent throughout the year.
This means essential items like batteries, portable generators, tarps, and tie-down kits will no longer be taxed at the register, helping Floridians stay storm-ready at any time.

Quick-Thinking Dunedin Employee Helps Prevent Major Fire
City Solid Waste employee Wayne “Mac” Oldham is being credited with helping prevent a potentially major fire in the Golden Acres neighborhood on Wednesday, July 16. While on his collection route, Oldham noticed smoke behind a mobile home, called 911 and guided arriving fire crews to the scene.
Investigators found a downed power line had ignited an electrical box. Thanks to Oldham’s quick action, the fire was extinguished before it could spread to nearby homes.
The City of Dunedin thanks Oldham for going above and beyond to protect residents.
