Michael Handoga Named Dunedin's Next Fire Chief
Deputy Fire Chief Michael Handoga has been named the next Fire Chief for the City of Dunedin, succeeding Chief Jeffrey Parks, who retires August 20.
Handoga, who has 23 years of fire service experience, joined Dunedin Fire Rescue in 2016 as Deputy Fire Marshal and was promoted to Fire Marshal the following year. During his tenure, he oversaw key projects including the Fenway redevelopment, the TD Ballpark renovation, City Hall construction and the development of Dunedin Commons. Since 2020, he has served as Deputy Fire Chief of Operations while continuing to lead the Fire Prevention Division.
Please join the City in congratulating Deputy Chief Handoga on his well-earned promotion and in extending sincere appreciation to Chief Parks for his years of dedicated service.

Lawn Maintenance Reminder
As the rainy and growing season continues, this is a reminder for all residents to regularly mow their grass. According to City Ordinance Section 34-31, grass and weeds must be kept under 10 inches in height.
A well-maintained lawn not only enhances the beauty of your property, but also contributes to the charm and livability of our entire community.

Mosquito Season Tips
We’re in peak mosquito season in Florida. Help reduce mosquito breeding around your home by:
- Dumping standing water from containers like buckets, birdbaths and plant saucers every few days.
- Cleaning out gutters and fixing leaks.
- Treating ponds or fountains with mosquito-specific larvicides.

Pinellas County Emergency Management is partnering with the cities of Tarpon Springs and St. Pete Beach to host two upcoming Storm Mitigation Expos. These events will offer residents valuable information on how to better protect their homes from hurricanes and other severe weather events.

Parkinson’s Support Group Meets July 21 at Hale Center
The City of Dunedin invites individuals living with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers to attend a free support group on Monday, July 21, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Hale Senior Activity Center, located at 330 Douglas Avenue.
This support group offers a chance to connect with others, share experiences and access helpful resources. Whether you're newly diagnosed or navigating long-term care, this group provides tools to help manage life with Parkinson’s.
