Mike Boylan from Mike's Weather Page to Make Appearance at 2025 Hurricane Expo
The City of Dunedin invites you to join us for the 2025 Hurricane Preparedness Expo. The event will take place at City Hall on Saturday, May 3 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. City, county and state experts will cover hurricane and storm preparedness, emergency management, flood mitigation, and more.The City will also be giving out free, pre-filled sandbags. Special guest speaker Mike Boylan, of Mikes Weather Page, shares an important message on attending the event.

Detour Update for Skinner Blvd Improvements Project
The existing closure of westbound Skinner Boulevard opens to motorists on Thursday, May 6. Crews will then close eastbound Skinner Boulevard from the Pinellas Trail to east of Highland Avenue for approximately four months, weather permitting.
During this temporary road closure, motorists will have to detour around the work zone using Broadway and Main Street. Advanced warning signs and electronic message boards will assist motorists traveling through the area. Access to businesses and residents to be maintained.

Casa Tina's Cinco De Mayo Road Closures
Main Street, from Broadway to Highland Avenue, and Douglas Avenue, from Wood Street to Monroe Street, will be closed from Friday, May 2 at 6 a.m. through Saturday, May 3 at 7 a.m. for the Cinco de Mayo event hosted by Casa Tina’s.
Please plan accordingly and use alternate routes.

Hog Hustle 5k Run or Walk Road Closures
Road closures for this year's Hog Hustle 5k Walk or Run begin at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, and will remain in place until after the race passes.
The race, which starts at 8:30 a.m., begins at the Hale Senior Activity Center and follows a scenic route along the waterfront of Edgewater Drive, through downtown Dunedin, and ends back at the Hale Senior Activity Center.

Dunedin Seeks Input from Business Community with 2025 Survey
Dunedin business owners, managers, and employees— the City wants to hear from you! The 2025 Dunedin Business Community Survey is now live and only takes about 15 minutes to complete. Your feedback will help shape future City initiatives and funding decisions.
This year’s questions include storm impacts, business location factors, and what helps businesses thrive in Dunedin.
“The purpose of this survey is to take the pulse of the business community,” said Nicole Delfino, Strategy & Sustainability Manager. "The input will help the City make decisions on funding and initiatives that are most beneficial to local businesses."

 Final Call for Feedback on Biking in Dunedin
The City of Dunedin is making a final call for community feedback on biking in the City, including input on infrastructure needs such as bike lanes and safety measures.
The survey, which opened in March, will close on Sunday, May 6. Please take a moment to share your feedback and help shape the future of cycling in Dunedin.

 Downtown Pocket Park
Plans for the Downtown Pocket Park at the site of the Old City Hall continue to move forward.
The thoughtfully designed park will integrate open green space, reflecting the City’s commitment to sustainability, community connection, and downtown revitalization.
A contractor is expected to be selected this summer, with construction slated to begin as early as the fall.

Dunedin Announces New Director of Utilities and Engineering
The City of Dunedin announces the appointment of Clayton Watkins, P.E. as its new Director of Utilities and Engineering.
Watkins, a proud resident of Dunedin, has been with the City of Dunedin just under a year and for the past 6 months, has served as the Assistant Utilities Director and City Engineer.
"Given Watkins's demonstrated abilities since being hired and his past expertise overseeing various complex infrastructure projects, he has proven a valuable asset to the City," said Deputy City Manager Jorge Quintas.
Watkins has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the Ohio University and is a licensed Engineer with the State of Florida. He has been working in drainage, transportation, utilities, and land development projects for 22 years. He will now oversee all functions of the Utilities and Engineering Department, including water, wastewater, reclaim, and utility billing. He will also continue to serve as the City Engineer.
“I’m excited to step into this new role and build on the department’s success in the community I call home,” Watkins said.
Watkins is replacing Janice "Nan" Bennett, who will transition to the role of Utilities Operations Division Director, where she will oversee water and wastewater field operations. This position includes the supervision of the Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant, Water Distribution, the Wastewater Treatment Facility, Wastewater Collections and Reclaimed Water.
