2024 Hurricane Expo Recap
Thank you to everyone who attended or tuned in to the 2024 Hurricane Preparedness Expo on Tuesday, May 21, presented by the City of Dunedin and the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce. We had an informative evening with City and County experts. Special thanks to our featured speaker, Tampa Bay resident Mike Boylan from Mike’s Weather Page, for his insightful presentation. Thanks to the 24 exhibitors who provided information and resources to help residents prepare now for hurricane season.

City Offices Closed - Monday, May 27
In honor of Memorial Day, all City offices will be closed on Monday, May 27. As a result, there will be no curbside solid waste or recycling collection. The Monday pickup will be rescheduled for Tuesday, May 28, while the Tuesday pickup will be postponed to Wednesday, May 29.

Float-In Movie
Join us at Highlander Pool on Friday, May 31 for our Float-In Movie: DC League of Super-Pets. Doors open at 6 p.m.; the movie begins at dark. Enjoy games and trivia, then watch the movie sitting poolside or floating in the pool with your friends and family. This event is presented by Dunedin Parks & Recreation. $6/person (2yrs & under are free). Register online or in person at the Highlander Pool, Dunedin Community Center, or MLK, Jr. Recreation Center.

Tai Chi - Seated Set
The Dunedin Community Center is offering a new program called "Tai Chi–Seated Set" every Monday from 10-11 a.m. In this class, you’ll learn the first 17 moves of Tai Chi known as the foundation set, while seated, and gradually progress to a standing set once able. The seated set is designed for the non-ambulatory and those unable to stand for long periods of time. The cost is $5/person (per day).

National Boating Safety Week
National Safe Boating Week reminds all boaters to brush up on boating safety skills. The Coast Guard Auxiliary can assist in ensuring that life jackets and safety equipment are present and in good working order.

Future of the Region Award
Dunedin’s City Hall received the Future of the Region Award under the Built Category from the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council at this year’s Resiliency Summit! The building was awarded as it exemplifies sustainability and resilience. Key principles in the design and construction phases of this project enabled the facility to be built with sustainable strategies in mind including energy efficiency, solar power generation from 308 panels, electric vehicle charging stations, sustainable building materials, water efficient appliances, Grand Live Oak preservation, 98% native plant landscaping, bird-friendly windows, and more. Dunedin is proud to celebrate this accomplishment and be a model for the region!

Preschool Yoga
On Friday, May 24, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., Miss Susan Rose will be at the Dunedin Public Library to lead a fun and engaging yoga session for preschoolers. Children aged 3-6 are welcome to join in the activity.

Citizens Academy is Back!
Dunedin Citizens Academy offers residents an “All-Access, Backstage, VIP Pass” to learn about their government and the services delivered. The nine week course is offered from August 20 - October 22, using hands-on activities and lectures to provide participants with insight on how local governments work and the functions of City departments. Applications are being accepted until June 14.
