Stay Safe. Stay Home. Don't Drive Through Water
See below a comprehensive list of updates from the City regarding services.
We encourage you to take these precautions seriously and prioritize your safety. Stay alert, stay prepared, and stay informed. The safety of our community is of utmost importance.

Flooding
- We urge all residents - Do NOT drive through standing or still water. Shelter in place - stay indoors
- We expect flooding conditions to worsen as the tide continues to rise. It is NOT safe to walk in or drive through flooded roadways. Just six inches of moving water can knock you down, and one foot of moving water can sweep your vehicle away. Flooded streets could contain sewage, pesticides, insects, snakes, etc.
- Flooding is reported on roadways throughout coastal and flood-prone areas of Pinellas County, in Dunedin be mindful of driving through water on the roadway. Current high water areas:
- Edgewater- Sunset Pt to President
- Shore W of Bayshore
- Mira Vista @ Santa Barbara
- San Mateo @ St Andrews Church
- Santa Barbara @ San Jose
- Douglas Ave at Mira Vista to St Andrews Church
- Palm Blvd W of Alt 19.
- Michigan at Cedar/Woodward, continuing to rise from Hammock
- Carolyn Dr @ Nicholas
- Baywood Dr W of Alt 19 curb to curb over 1’
- Alt 19 North/Bayshore Drive
- Dunedin Causeway – access is closed due to high water. The Sheriff’s Office may open the barrier islands this evening. But only if and when they are all ready to be accessed.

Water & Wastewater
- We ask everyone to conserve water and reduce the amount of flushing while the storm passes through our area. Please refrain from doing laundry and running dishwashers.
- Our lift stations are under strain, reducing the amount of flow will help them process their current volume.
County Notices
- Recommends all residents now shelter in place until dangerous weather has passed and it is deemed safe to travel
- Currently under a tornado watch, hurricane warning, storm surge warning, flood watch
- The Sheriff's Office has closed access to the barrier islands as flooding has become dangerous. No one will be allowed back onto the barrier islands at this time.
- This includes the Dunedin Causeway
Electricity & Duke
- For downed lines or outages call, 800-228-8485. DO NOT CALL SHERIFF
- Stay informed about the status of power outages with Duke Alerts. More information

Trash & Recycling
- Trash and Recycling is suspended for routes Wednesday (8/30)
- Drop-off site containers have been removed
City Facilities
- All City facilities remain closed to the public
- This includes all recreation centers, the library, all parks, and public restrooms
Emergency Operations
- Fire Department Storm Units have been responding to wires down and other storm damage incidents on pause until weather conditions pass
- Emergency Operations & Public Works department will open roadways as quickly as possible after the storm conditions have passed
- City Leadership are continuing to monitor the storm with county emergency management teams
