What is the Community Rating System (CRS)?
The Community Rating System (CRS) is a voluntary federal program started in 1990. It offers up to a 45% reduction in flood insurance premiums for people in flood zones within CRS communities. CRS uses a Class rating (similar to fire insurance) from 1 to 10. Most communities start at Class 9 or 8. Communities can improve their rating through 19 activities, which then increase residents' policy discounts. Every CRS Class improvement adds a 5% discount on flood insurance premiums for floodplain properties.

Future of Old City Hall
In February 2022, old City Hall located at 542 Main Street was deemed functionally obsolete. Staff have since brought forward plans for the adaptive reuse of the property into a mini-park for the east end of Downtown Dunedin. Concept designs include preservation of the grand oak trees, columns, the current brick work, public restrooms, open/green space, and public art.
