Medical Marijuana Use Program Update
On July 1, 2025, Senate Bill 2514 was signed into law amending section 381.986, Florida Statutes, to require the Florida Department of Health’s, Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) to revoke the Medical Marijuana Use Registry registration of patients and caregivers who are convicted of certain violations of Chapter 893, F.S.

Changes for Patients and Caregivers
The Office of Medical Marijuana Use must revoke the registry registration of a qualified patient or caregiver who is convicted of, or pleads guilty or nolo contendere to, regardless of adjudication, a violation of Chapter 893, on or after July 1, 2025, if such violation is for trafficking in the sale, manufacture, or delivery of; or possession with intent to sell, manufacture, or deliver a controlled substance.
Patients and caregivers whose registry registration was revoked under these circumstances can become eligible to have their registration reinstated, after the completion of the court assigned term.
