COLT CREEK STATE PARK
TO HOST CELEBRATION SHOWCASING NEW FACILITIES
~Entrance fees will be waived this Saturday, August 27, at Colt Creek~

LAKELAND - The Florida Department of
Environmental Protection’s Colt
Creek State
Park will host a fun-filled family celebration this Saturday, August 27, 2011, to showcase the new facilities at the park. All entrance fees will be waived for this special event.
Visitors
will have the opportunity to tour and use the park’s new facilities, including
a ranger station, fishing/observation dock, two additional pavilions and a
large screened in pavilion with adjoining restroom. Another new highlight for visitors to enjoy are 20
interpretive signs located throughout the park and along the Mac Lake Nature
Trail.
Free activities
offered during the event will include tram tours, guided nature hikes, canoeing and kayaking. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
will provide fishing poles for use during the event. Hot dogs, drinks and chips
will be available for a donation to the Help Our State Park fund which will be
used to fund future park projects. The normal entrance fee of $4.00 per vehicle
will be waived during this event.
