EOC Activation Level: Level 1
EOC Activation Level: Level 1
Meteorological Summary:
- A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for western Panhandle counties until 10:00 AM EDT as low-level moisture has developed fog, resulting in visibilities one-quarter of a mile or less at times. As the sun continues to rise throughout the morning, the fog will continue to lift.
- A strong cold front will push through the Panhandle and Peninsula today and into the evening, bringing much cooler and drier temperatures.
- Isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop along West-Central Florida ahead of the cold front and continue to push inland throughout the day (40-50%).
- A Marginal Risk for Severe Weather (level 1 of 5) can be expected across Northeast and East-Central Florida as day-time heating may produce stronger thunderstorms in the afternoon. Gusty winds, lightning, and heavy rainfall can be expected. Localized flash flooding may be possible in urban areas of poor drainage and saturated soils.
- An elevated risk for rip currents continues across many Atlantic and Panhandle coastline beaches; a low risk can be expected elsewhere.
- Major riverine flooding is expected to continue for the St. Johns River Basin, despite levels slowly declining; minor riverine flooding is still ongoing across West and Central Florida.
- Relative humidity values increase (40-50%) due to an increase in moisture along the Panhandle. Isolated lightning strikes may spark wildfires across the western Panhandle, as drought conditions persist.
