Significant Events: Hurricane Michael
Meteorological Summary:
- Near record heat is expected in some parts of the state today. High temperatures will be near 90 with a heat index near 100 mid-afternoon.
- Scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm will develop across North Florida this afternoon, but there is no threat of severe weather.
- A high risk of rip currents continues at many Panhandle beaches, with a moderate risk still occurring at all Atlantic beaches.
- A River Flood Warning remains in effect for the Chipola River at Altha. All other rivers are receding.
- A low pressure system in the western Caribbean has a 40% chance of development but poses no threat to Florida.
