 'Dollars to Donuts' Community Workshop is Aug. 1
Tell us which financial priorities matter most to you for next year's city budget
Grab a donut, enjoy a cup of coffee and join the conversation about Clearwater's future at the city's Dollars to Donuts community budget workshop.
The free event will take place Saturday, Aug. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Morningside Recreation Center, 2400 Harn Blvd. Residents are invited to learn about the city's preliminary fiscal year 2026-27 budget, ask questions and provide input on community priorities.
Unlike a traditional budget meeting, Dollars to Donuts is designed to encourage open conversation and help residents better understand how Clearwater invests taxpayer dollars to provide essential services. Participants will receive an overview of the city's budget, including revenue sources, major expenditures and capital improvement needs, while learning how changes in revenue could affect city services.
The workshop also gives residents an opportunity to share which services and programs they value most. Feedback gathered during the event will help inform future budget decisions if revenue reductions require difficult choices.
The event is free and open to the public. Donuts will be provided by our sponsor, Rockstar Donuts of Largo, and coffee will be provided, while supplies last.

Freakin' Hot 5 Race to Impact Traffic
July 25, 7 a.m., Coachman Park & Memorial Causeway Bridge
 Starting at 7 a.m. July 25, parts of downtown and the Memorial Causeway Bridge in Clearwater will experience traffic impacts due to the Freakin' Hot 5K race. It begins at Coachman Park and will impact nearby downtown neighborhoods. Please allow additional time to get to and from your destinations.
July 25, 9 a.m., Pier 60 Park
 Join Moffitt Cancer Center's Mole Patrol and Head and Neck experts for free skin, head, neck and oral cancer screenings July 25. Screenings take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pier 60 Park at 1 Causeway Blvd., Clearwater Beach.
There is no requirement to RSVP or register. The event is free and open to the public. Insurance is not required.

Keep Recycling Clean: Avoid Contaminating Recycling Streams
 When non-recyclable items end up in your blue recycling cart, they contaminate the entire recycling stream, making it harder and more expensive to process recyclable materials.
Remember:
- Recycle only accepted items.
- Keep recyclables empty, clean and dry.
- Never bag your recyclables. Instead, place them loose in the cart.
When in doubt, throw it out. Recycling the right way helps protect workers, reduce costs, and ensures more materials can be made into new products. Thank you for doing your part to keep our recycling program clean and effective.

Pay Utility Bills Anytime with Clearwater's 24/7 Payment Kiosk
 City of Clearwater utility customers can pay their bills anytime using the city's 24/7 self-service payment kiosk. Located at 100 S. Myrtle Ave., the kiosk accepts cash, checks and credit cards. Payments are posted to customer accounts immediately, providing a convenient option outside regular business hours.
Customers also can pay their utility bills online, enroll in AutoPay or explore additional payment options.

Book Bus Inspires Summer Reading at Countryside Library
The Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County recently brought the Book Bus to Countryside Library, providing free books to library patrons and Countryside Recreation Center summer campers. The visit helped encourage a love of reading and supported summer literacy efforts for children and families throughout the community.
There's still time to join Clearwater Public Library System's Summer Reading Program, "Unearth a Story," and keep the reading fun going all summer. Readers of all ages are invited to participate by tracking their reading, attending library programs and earning prizes.
