Watering Restrictions Continue Through October
Clearwater residents are reminded that once-a-week watering restrictions will remain in effect through Oct. 1 as part of the Southwest Florida Water Management District's year-round water conservation measures.
The restrictions help protect the region's water resources and ensure a sustainable water supply for residents, businesses and the environment.
Residents should water only on their designated day and are encouraged to follow best practices such as watering before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m. to reduce evaporation. Hand watering and micro-irrigation systems may be allowed under different guidelines.

Sea Turtle Nesting Season
Sea turtle nesting season has arrived and will continue through Oct. 31. Recent nesting seasons have shown notable growth. In 2025, CMA recorded 405 nests, the highest total in years, compared with 271 nests in 2024 and 227 nests in 2023. This is a crucial time for hatchlings as they begin their journey to the sea and start their lives.
Ways you can help sea turtles during nesting season include:
- Pick up trash from the beach. Plastic bags are often mistaken for jellyfish and can harm or injure turtles.
- Fill in holes. Flattening sandcastles and filling in holes helps prevent hatchlings from becoming trapped.
- Turn off bright lights. Artificial lights can confuse hatchlings and lead them inland instead of toward the ocean.

Water Quality Report Now Available
The city of Clearwater’s annual Water Quality Report is now available. The report provides information about the quality of the city’s drinking water and details how Clearwater continues to meet and exceed all state and federal drinking water standards.
Federal law requires public water systems to publish an annual consumer confidence report to keep customers informed about their drinking water.
To view the full report, visit MyClearwater.com/WaterReport. Printed copies are available upon request, and the report is also available in Spanish. To request a copy by mail, call Clearwater Public Utilities at (727) 562-4960.

Dispose of Fireworks Safely After the Celebration
As Independence Day celebrations come to an end, residents are encouraged to dispose of fireworks properly to help prevent fires and injuries.
Before placing used or unused fireworks in the trash, soak them in a bucket of water overnight to ensure they are completely extinguished. Once soaked, place the fireworks in a plastic bag and dispose of them with regular household garbage.
Do not place hot, smoldering or unused fireworks directly in trash or recycling containers, and never dispose of them in storm drains.
Taking a few extra minutes to dispose of fireworks safely helps keep Clearwater neighborhoods clean and safe for everyone.
