April is Earth Month and Water Conservation Month
Did you know April is Earth Month and Water Conservation Month?
Small changes can make a big impact. Fixing leaky faucets and choosing drought-tolerant, native landscaping are simple ways to reduce water use and protect our natural resources.
You can also help keep our waterways clean by properly disposing of waste and joining a local litter cleanup. You also can adopt a stormwater drain in your neighborhood to help keep it free of debris during times of heavy rain. Every action counts toward a more sustainable, resilient community.

It begins at 7:45 a.m. near Tower 7. Entry fee is $45 for the swim alone or $25 just for the post-swim brunch at Hogg Daddy's. You can combine both events for a discounted rate of $60.

Skip the Bag: Help Keep Recycling Running Smoothly
Clearwater residents are reminded not to bag recyclable materials when placing items in their blue recycling bins.
Plastic bags can clog recycling machinery, causing equipment shutdowns, costly delays and safety hazards for workers who must remove tangled materials. When recyclables are placed in bags, they often cannot be properly sorted and are then sent to the waste-to-energy plant.
Instead, place recyclables loose in your cart. Keeping items unbagged helps ensure materials are sorted and processed correctly, improves efficiency and supports Clearwater’s sustainability efforts.
Mayor and City Leaders Surprise Veteran Family with Hessel House Opening
Mayor Bruce Rector, alongside city leaders, staff and community partners, recently surprised residents with the unveiling of Hessel House, a new eco-friendly housing project supporting veterans in Clearwater.
Led by the Hessel Family Foundation in partnership with the city, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to long-term, sustainable housing solutions. The city contributed the property, helping bring the project to life and provide a stable home for a local veteran family.
Hessel House highlights the impact of coordinated community investment and sets the stage for future solutions that move beyond temporary assistance toward lasting stability.
