Downtown Clearwater’s Transformation Gains Momentum
 Downtown Clearwater is experiencing a significant wave of new construction and redevelopment, with progress across multiple projects and cranes rising throughout the skyline.
Notable advancements include ongoing construction of a 10-story, 158-room Hilton Tapestry hotel near Coachman Park. Construction on a 620,000-square-foot apartment tower on the bluff is expected to begin soon, and the city’s new City Hall is nearing completion. Additional projects are also on the horizon, supporting continued growth and investment while enhancing the overall downtown experience.
In the coming months, residents and visitors will see an unprecedented level of growth and activity downtown. This period of investment reflects an ongoing urban renaissance, strengthening downtown Clearwater as a vibrant community hub.

Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival
March 27 through April 12, Pier 60 Park
 The Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival returns to Clearwater Beach from March 27 through April 12, 2026 at Pier 60 Park. This 17-day beachside celebration highlights Clearwater’s world-famous sugar sand with a stunning walk-through exhibit of sand sculptures created by master artists using thousands of tons of sand, plus live music, free activities, artisans, food vendors and more for all ages.
This Saturday! Tour One of Our Water Plants to Celebrate 'World Water Day'
 Curious about where your tap water comes from?
The city of Clearwater invites residents to go behind the scenes during guided tours of Reverse-Osmosis Water Treatment Plant #2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21, in celebration of World Water Day.
Visitors will get a first-hand look at how the reverse-osmosis process turns raw water into safe, reliable drinking water for homes and businesses across the city. Staff from Clearwater Public Utilities will lead 30- to 45-minute tours, answer questions and share how the city treats about 11.5 million gallons of water each day for roughly 34,000 accounts. Attendees should wear flat, closed-toe shoes; strollers are not permitted on the tour path.
The plant is located at 21133 U.S. 19 on the northbound frontage road to U.S. 19 just north of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard.
Clearwater Writer's Club
 Looking to get creative or sharpen your writing skills? The Clearwater Writer’s Club meets at the Main Library and is open to adults of all experience levels, from first-time writers to published authors. Join us Mondays at 5:30 p.m. for a relaxed, supportive workshop featuring writing prompts, group discussion and optional peer feedback.
Registration is required, and attending regularly is encouraged for the best experience. Bring your preferred writing materials, and feel free to share your work if you’d like—though it’s never required.

 Utility Customer Service Early Closing Alert: The lobby and phones will close at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 27. Customers can still make payments via InvoiceCloud, use the dropbox on site, or visit the kiosk. Utility Customer Service will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, March 30.

Dispose of Your Household Chemicals Properly
 Paint, motor oil and detergents can pollute local waterways if they enter storm drains. Instead of pouring these materials down a drain or onto the ground, residents should dispose of them at a Household Chemical Collection event.

The city of Clearwater is in need of Variable Pool Lifeguards for the upcoming summer season. These employees are invaluable in meeting the mission of the agency. These employees exercise responsibility for the safety of swimmers and non-swimmers using pools, and for rendering assistance in emergencies. Supervision is received from a superior who makes work assignments and reviews work by observation.

Summer Camp Registration is Open
 Registration is open for Recreation Summer Camps in the city of Clearwater. The Countryside, Long and Morningside Recreation Centers have full summer camp available starting at $990 for recreation plus card holders, $1,125 for recreation card holders and $1,350 for non card holders.
North Greenwood and Ross Norton Recreation Camps are sponsored by the JWB and cost $75 for full summer sessions with proof of enrollment in a Pinellas County School.
Registration must be done in person at your preferred recreation center.

Silver Sneakers and Active and Fit Accepted at Recreation Centers
 All recreation centers accept SilverSneakers, Silver & Fit, Active & Fit, Renew Active, One Pass and Tivity Prime. Eligible members receive an Individual Recreation Card providing free access to the recreation amenities that are not instructor-led, i.e., fitness centers, pools, and gymnasiums during hours of operation. Exclusions and restrictions may apply.
SilverSneakers members receive free access to one SilverSneakers Signature class daily. The recreation card may be used at McMullen Tennis Complex and additional fees apply (excluding Tivity Prime members.)
