Don't Flush Wipes. Throw Them Away.
A reminder to help keep our sewer system running smoothly: Wipes should never be flushed and should always be thrown away. Clearwater Public Utilities crews are seeing more sanitary sewer overflows, likely due to the cold weather. Flushed wipes do not break down and can combine with grease to create clogs that damage equipment. Cold weather causes grease to harden faster, making it easier for wipes to snag and block wastewater pipes.
No wipes, regardless of what is printed on the packaging, are ever "flushable." Please help us prevent backups by keeping wipes out of the wastewater system.
Watering Restrictions Remain Once a Week
Clearwater residents remain under a Phase 1 Water Shortage Order issued by the Southwest Florida Water Management District, due to below-normal rainfall and declining water levels. Residents are asked to continue to conserve drinking water supplies.
The order remains in effect through July 1 and applies to all water sources except reclaimed. Residents can water once per week and not between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- Wednesday - Even-numbered addresses (or A-M)
- Thursday - Odd-numbered addresses (or N-Z), or mixed or no street address.
Reclaimed Water Rules
These restrictions don't apply to reclaimed water. All locations that use reclaimed resources to water lawns may do so on any day, not between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

What Clearwater’s 'Urban Renaissance' Means for the Future of Downtown
You’ve probably heard the term Urban Renaissance being used around town, and you’re probably wondering what that means and what it looks like. In downtown Clearwater, this is a time of revitalization marked by significant new development, investment and physical transformation that city leaders say will reshape the city’s core and enhance its appeal as a place to live, work and visit.
According to Assistant City Manager Alfred Battle, “The city of Clearwater is definitely experiencing an urban renaissance or renewal,” with major projects moving from planning into construction. This includes the upcoming 10-story Ballad Hotel with retail space and a rooftop bar overlooking Coachman Park, and a 28-story, mixed-use residential tower on the former City Hall site — both currently under construction.
The renaissance isn’t just about tall buildings. Infrastructure improvements, from expanded sidewalks and underground utility upgrades along Osceola Avenue to new public parking with EV chargers, are laying the groundwork for a more vibrant and pedestrian-friendly downtown. Clearwater is transforming long-discussed ideas into visible growth that aims to attract residents, businesses and visitors — and to redefine the downtown for years to come.
