Keep Clearwater's Recycling Tangler-Free
Tanglers are a major source of contamination in municipal recycling programs. Items such as plastic bags, cords, ropes, and hoses can wrap around sorting equipment, slowing down or completely stopping the recycling sorting process. Plastic bags, in particular, pose significant operational challenges and should not be placed in recycling bins.
Residents are encouraged to throw tanglers in the trash rather than placing them in recycling containers. Some plastic bags may be returned to participating local grocery stores for proper recycling. Keeping tanglers out of the recycling stream helps ensure a safer, more efficient recycling process for the community.

Adopt-a-Drain Launches with Grant Support
Clearwater is launching a new Adopt-a-Drain program to help residents protect local waterways and reduce neighborhood flooding. Through this program, community members can “adopt” a nearby storm drain and help keep it clear of leaves, trash and debris.
Because stormwater flows directly from our streets to Tampa Bay and the gulf, keeping drains clean helps improve water quality and supports a healthier environment for everyone.

Countryside Library Hosts Author Talk With Olivia Muenter
The Clearwater Public Library System is hosting its first author talk of 2026 with Olivia Muenter! Join us at noon Feb. 14, for a discussion with Muenter and local writer Ayana Lage at the Countryside Library, 2642 Sabal Springs Dr.
Born and raised in the Tampa Bay area, Muenter is celebrating the release of her sophomore novel, "Little One." Her debut novel, "Such a Bad Influence," was an instant USA Today bestseller.
"Little One" follows a young woman whose life is upended when a journalist uncovers her mysterious and hidden upbringing. Sharp-eyed and sweltering, "Little One" masterfully captures the dread of facing your deepest desires, when the hunger to become your best self threatens to drown out everything else. An achingly astute look at modern womanhood and wellness culture, it tackles the enduring question: How far would you go to be good?
