Don't Clog Pipes With Grease
When cooking up this season’s Thanksgiving feast, residents are reminded not to pour cooking fats, oils and greases down the drain. It clogs pipes and causes expensive sewer backups.
You can get rid of grease by scraping it into the trash, collecting it in foil lined in your sink drain, or by recycling it and bringing it to our recycling drop-off center at 1701 N. Hercules Ave.

Vulnerability Assessment Summary is Now Available Online
The city of Clearwater has released a summary of its vulnerability assessment, a major project that analyzed the city's risks from sea-level rise, flooding and extreme heat. This summary condenses nearly 200 pages of technical scientific data and modeling into a more digestible, nine-page document. The report includes an executive summary, methodology, outcomes including adaptation scenarios, and next steps.
The assessment was mandated by the state and funded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Resilient Florida Program.

Rains and Drains
Temperatures are cooling down, making it more pleasant to tend to yard work. Be sure to properly dispose of grass clippings, leaves and other vegetative debris when maintaining lawns. Don’t blow grass clippings into the street, toward catch basins or down storm drains, and residents should not pile trash on or near catch basins.
While stormwater often travels through pipes under roads just like sewage, it is not treated at a wastewater treatment plant. Instead, stormwater carries grass and leaves from lawns directly into ponds, lakes, rivers and bays and can clog storm drains, along with any pollutants, such as fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides.
