Sept. 12, 2025
The Achieva Clearwater Turkey Trot is Nov. 27
Registration is now open for the Achieva Clearwater Turkey Trot. Participants of all ages and abilities can choose from three signature race options:
- 5K Timed Run — 7 a.m. start, for more competitive runners
- 5K Fun Run — 8 a.m. start
- 1-Mile Gobbler Run — 9 a.m. start
The fun run and one-mile races offer options to bring strollers and leashed well-behaved dogs, and they offer a more relaxed experience than that of the timed 5K run.
Beyond the starting line, families can expect a morning packed with a lot of the same traditions as in years past, such as live music, a pre-race party full of games, food and entertainment, and a spirited costume contest.

Clearwater Offshore Nationals

Specially built, low-slung boats up to 50 feet long will race at speeds up to 150 miles per hour in the gulf. The competition for the national championship will be fierce as boats and crews vie to qualify for the World Championships in Key West in November.
How to watch the event
The races will be easy to see. The 2.5-mile-long race course will be just a couple of hundred yards off and parallel to Clearwater Beach. The first turn will be about 100 yards off Clearwater Beach’s famous Pier 60.
Hundreds of people will come to the beach and the pier to watch the show and enjoy the beautiful gulf waters. A spectator fleet of privately-owned tour boats will anchor just offshore of the course in an area organizers have set aside for viewing. Reduce Microplastic Pollution from Plastic Bottles
Plastics and microplastics are everywhere. According to BeyondPlastics.org, single-use plastic water bottles are clogging the world’s oceans, rivers, streets, and landfills. They also are contributing to microplastic contamination of the environment and human bodies.
Let’s reduce plastic use in our community. You can start by choosing reusable, refillable or compostable products when you're at the grocery store. When possible, drink from a reusable stainless steel, glass, or BPA-free bottle at home, school, or work. Clearwater's drinking water meets and exceeds federal and state drinking water guidelines.
If you must purchase or use plastic bottles, recycle them in Clearwater's Simplify to 5 recycling program. Make sure the bottles are clean and empty, and please remove the caps.

What It Takes to Run a Water Utility
A lot more goes on in the decision-making process of Public Utilities than meets the eye. The city's Public Utilities Department hosted an interactive exercise for its staff called “Wateropolis.” This three-hour simulation was hands-on and explored the complexities of utility budgeting, managing competing priorities, and adapting to shifting consumption and revenue trends.
Participants were split into teams, each acting as its own water department. Each one faced a series of budgeting scenarios and had to weigh competing priorities. Tough decisions were made, and teams compared results and learned from one another. This simulation will help our staff apply lessons learned to today’s real-life scenarios.
