Curbside Pickup Service Returns to Main Library
The city of Clearwater’s Main Library now offers a curbside pickup service, available Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 100 N. Osceola Ave. in Clearwater. This service allows patrons to conveniently pick up library items and holds without leaving their vehicles. Requests can be made via text or phone at (727) 294-1058.
Library staff will retrieve the requested items, check them out to the patron’s account, and deliver them directly to their vehicle. Patrons should call or text the library upon arrival in the designated curbside area. A maximum of five items may be picked up, and a library card or photo ID is required.
Originally introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, this curbside service successfully helped patrons maintain access to library materials. The library is resuming the service to help patrons during upcoming downtown construction and subsequent limited parking.

Reducing Your Indoor Heat
The summer can get hot. Stay cool and conserve energy in your home by choosing smaller appliances, such as microwaves, air fryers, or toaster ovens in place of a traditional home oven. These alternatives use less electricity and produce less radiant heat.
Avoid using large appliances, such as dryers, dishwashers and ovens during the hottest parts of the day, which is typically between late morning and early evening. Minimizing these heat-producing activities can help keep your home more comfortable and could lower your cooling costs.

Local Girl Scouts Donate Cookies to Solid Waste
Clearwater Girl Scout Troop #1111 selected the city of Clearwater's Solid Waste & Recycling Department as their Hometown Hero for this year. The Hometown Hero program allows Girl Scout troops to choose a local organization as the recipient of their donated cookies.
The troop talked about how the city’s solid waste crews are often overlooked and wanted to make sure they received the recognition they deserved for all of their hard work, especially after having so much to clean up after the last hurricane season. The troop visited the Solid Waste & Recycling administration building earlier this summer to donate cookies to the department.
Thank you, Girl Scouts, for recognizing the hard work of our dedicated sanitation team!

Keep Drains Clear of Yard Waste and Debris
When it rains, yard waste such as grass clippings and leaves can run from sidewalks and driveways into the gutter and stormwater system. Additionally, delivered newspapers and newsletters also end up in the drains if they are not picked up and brought inside.
All of this debris causes clogged gutter systems and stormwater drainage. When this happens, draining systems do not work as designed and can cause backed up areas and localized flooding. Please keep yard waste picked up, and bring in all newspapers, and deliveries to help keep your stormwater systems clear and working.
