Conserving Water
Hurricane season can disrupt water systems, making it essential to conserve water. Make sure to have a backup water supply to ensure you have adequate supplies for drinking and sanitization. This will prevent contamination and minimize putting a strain on infrastructure.
During the storm:
- Limit toilet flushing
- Avoid using dishwashers and washing machines
- Take shorter showers
- Turn off sprinkler systems
After the storm:
- Continue conservation after the storm due to potential strain on water and wastewater treatment plants.
- Follow boil water notices if issued and treat water when necessary.
