It’s Everyone’s Job to Save Water

April is Water Conservation Month, and it’s important to conserve water all year long. Do your part by turning off the water while brushing your teeth, taking shorter showers, and using reusable water bottles with tap or filtered water, rather than buying it bottled.
You also can save water by finding and fixing common leaks in your home that – left unfixed – can waste lots of water and break the bank. Plant native and drought-tolerant plants in your garden, use soaker hoses and water your plants during proper hours. Follow the city’s watering restrictions, and water your lawn only on your designated watering days.

Call Before You Dig
April is National Safe Digging Month, a time to remember to call 811 before digging. Clearwater Gas System shares a safety reminder informing homeowners that Florida law requires property owners and excavators to call 811 at least two full business days prior to digging. This free service connects you to local utility operators who mark the location of buried lines prior to all excavation projects. Remember, every dig calls for 811.

Don't Miss Arbor Day & Tree Giveaway, April 26
The city of Clearwater will host its annual Arbor Day Celebration and Tree Giveaway from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26. Take home two free trees and plant them this Earth Month and National Arbor Day. The trees are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are important in the fight against climate change. As they grow, trees absorb and store carbon emissions that otherwise cause global warming.
In an urban setting such as Clearwater, the shade from trees cools city streets, reduces air pollution, and boosts personal wellbeing and health. The city is handing out more than 20 different species of trees, including Red Maple, Pecan, and Persimmon trees. Proof of Clearwater residency is required.
