Lane Closures Along Clearwater Beach Marina Begin Dec. 5

Closures are due to marina seawall construction and are anticipated to be complete by March 1, 2025.
Beginning Thursday, Dec. 5, construction activities at the Clearwater Beach Marina will begin impacting traffic. Work is expected to finish March 1, 2025, prior to the start of spring break. Traffic changes include the following:
- Northbound traffic along Coronado Drive will go from two lanes to one lane, starting at Third Street to the roundabout.
- Northeast-bound traffic along South Gulfview Boulevard will go from two lanes to one lane, starting at the Wyndham Grand crosswalk to the Coronado Drive intersection.
- The east Coronado sidewalk will be closed in the vicinity of the marina’s west seawall, and pedestrians will follow a detour route around the work zone using existing crossings. This pedestrian detour is fully ADA accessible.
During these temporary lane closures, drivers should give themselves more time along this route, use caution while traveling through the work zone, and remain alert for construction crews and pedestrians. These lane closures are a necessary part of the Clearwater Beach Marina Replacement Project.
Construction on the marina is under way, and the entire project is anticipated to be complete in August 2026.

Where You Pay Your Utility Bill In Person Changes Dec. 9

If you pay your Clearwater utility bill in our in-person lobby or drive-thru at the Municipal Services Building, changes are coming. Starting Dec. 9, our cashier and payment services will relocate to Clearwater Gas System, 777 Maple St. This change is being made as the Municipal Services Building undergoes renovations. There will be no drive-up option at the new location, and the Municipal Services Building option will shut down at 3 p.m. Dec. 6 to facilitate the move.
The current drop-box location may still be available, depending on construction work. You can pay your bill online or by phone, text, or Amscot.

Volunteers Are Needed
The city has a host of festive holiday events coming this season. Volunteers are needed to help with games, arts and crafts and to assist Santa with photos! It’s a fun way to spread holiday cheer.

Give Back This Holiday Season

Consider contributing to the city of Clearwater's We Care Fund. Hardships know no season, and this community partnership program assists needy families and individuals in the community with paying for water, wastewater, solid waste and gas bills.
Funds are released throughout the year to a local branch of the Salvation Army, which provides temporary assistance to eligible Clearwater utility customers.

Space Heater Safety

Trying to stay warm during this cold season? If you're using a space heater, remember these important safety tips:
-
Turn it off when you leave the room or head to bed.
-
Keep it away from curtains, carpet, furniture and other flammable objects.
-
Do not use an extension cord or power strip, which could overheat and result in a fire.
-
Check that the space heater is clean and in good working condition before use.

Holiday Recycling Tips

If you are using plastic food containers this holiday season, be sure to rinse and dry them before tossing them into your recycling bin. If they have food residue on them, throw them away.
For disposable plates and cutlery, remember to throw them in the trash. They do not belong in the recycle bin. Paper and plastic plates, cutlery, napkins, and paper towels are all considered garbage.
The recycling stream is ruined when materials with leftover foods are thrown into your blue recycling bin. Everything you put in your bin should be empty, clean and dry to prevent contamination of good, clean recycling.
Use Reusable, Compostable Items for Your Next Holiday Party
Plastics cause lots of problems for our oceans, wildlife and our health. Use reusable, compostable or recyclable items instead of single-use plastics when hosting your holiday party. Here are 10 more ways you can host an ocean-friendly event.
