Clearwater Beach Marina Updates
Bid packages have been received and contractors have been selected for the Clearwater Beach Marina replacement project. A guaranteed maximum price for the project was presented to the City Council at the city council meeting held on June 20, 2024. A second presentation for final approval will take place at the city council meeting on July 15, 2024.
Construction is scheduled to begin October 2024, and will include two phases of construction. The first phase will begin with the complete demolition and rebuild of the the west side of the marina, shown in the photo below.
As we begin planning for commercial tenants to move to the east side of the marina during phase one, we are taking into consideration all aspects of the placement of the vessels that have leased commercial space in the marina. Safety will be a top concern as we start placing the vessels into their temporary slips. To that end, Marine & Aviation Department tradesworkers have developed a plan to reinforce the east docks and install railings along the perimeter of the docks.
A Commercial Tenant Outreach Group has been created. The overall goal of the group is to assist in developing operational strategies for the commercial businesses in the marina to maximize efficiency and effectiveness while adhering to the rules, requirements and footprint of the existing marina. An emphasis will be on sustaining a viable business throughout this process. The group is made up of members from the fishing vessels, tour excursions and dinner cruises. They will offer insight with respect to the placement of their vessels as well as helping create strategies for successful commercial operations during and after the construction. The operators that make up the Commercial Tenant Outreach Group that will strategize on the placement of the vessels have many years of maritime and business experience.
Be sure to check out the Clearwater Beach Marina Replacement Project website page for updates on the project.

Clearwater Harbor Marina Updates
Design work is ongoing for the Clearwater Harbor Marina south basin northside wave attenuators that were damaged during Hurricane Ian in 2022. The 60 percent design plans have been completed. This project involves the removal of the three existing wave attenuators that make up the northwest corner of the south basin, shown in yellow highlight below, and will necessitate the relocation of vessels along A Dock. The start date for this project is several months away and all tenants that will be affected will receive ample notice.
