Hello neighbors!
I was very fortunate to attend this year’s Neighborhoods, USA (NUSA) conference at El Paso, Texas. NUSA is a national, non-profit organization committed to building and strengthening neighborhood organizations. Created in 1975 to share information and experiences used to build stronger communities, NUSA encourages networking and information-sharing to facilitate the development of partnerships among neighborhood organizations, government, and the private sector with the goal of strengthening every neighborhood. More information on NUSA can be found at https://www.nusa.org/ .
Two of our very own Clearwater neighborhoods were finalists for awards in different categories. Plaza Park received a finalist recognition for Best Neighborhood of The Year. The Morningside neighborhood also received a finalist recognition in the Best Neighborhood Newsletter category.
This conference was very educational, informative, and culturally rich. There was a very diverse attendance, and we were able to exchange resources and ideas. Among the ideas we shared were how to bring grants to neighborhoods. We invite all input as we begin working on developing grant opportunities for neighborhoods. Help us by emailing us your ideas with the following questions in mind: How should a neighborhood use the grant? How should we prioritize projects or neighborhoods? What should the application process look like? Your feedback can greatly impact the way we process and distribute neighborhood grants in the future, so make sure your voice is heard!
Please reach out if there is anything we can help with at 727-562-4559.
Sincerely,
