Clearwater Referendum Question

On Nov. 8, Clearwater voters will be asked about the development of two city-owned properties. The ballot language is as follows:

Redevelopment of two government-owned properties located west of Osceola Avenue in the downtown core

Shall the Clearwater City Charter be amended to allow the City, instead of selling the vacant City Hall and a portion of the former Harborview sites to the highest bidder at a public auction, to sell the properties to Gotham Property Acquisitions and The DeNunzio Group; who will create approximately 600 apartments and 158-key hotel, retail, entertainment, restaurants and cultural uses available to all Clearwater residents, as further described and limited by City Ordinance 9597-22?

Public Information Sessions

NOTE: The city of Clearwater will host four public information sessions about the Nov. 8 referendum. Mayor Frank Hibbard will give an overview of the ballot question, the financial aspects of the deal, the development project and answer audience questions.  The meetings will be held at the following: Monday, Oct. 10 @ 6:30 p.m. Morningside Recreation Center, 2400 Harn Blvd. Wednesday, Oct. 12 @ 6:30 p.m. Countryside Library, 2642 Sabal Springs Dr. Thursday, Oct. 13 @ 6:30 p.m. Clearwater Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave. Tuesday, Oct. 18 @ 6:30 p.m. North Greenwood Recreation Center, 900 N. MLK Jr. Ave.

Election Day will be held Nov. 8, 2022. To register to vote or find your voting precinct, visit VotePinellas.com. On Election Day, polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
