Radar Road (Fleming Island)- Crews will begin construction of a new two-lane roadway connecting Radar Road to Town Center Boulevard at the current roundabout in late summer 2025. Once complete, this project will fully connect U.S. 17 to Town Center Boulevard and include bike lanes, curbs and gutters, and drainage features.
New County Projects
Bolton Road (Lakeside)- Work is anticipated to begin on a milling and resurfacing project on Bolton Road from Blanding Boulevard (SR21) to Moody Avenue the week of April 21, weather permitting. Daytime, single-lane closures will be in place, and work could take up to three weeks to complete.
Filmore Street (Lakeside)- Work is anticipated to begin a milling and resurfacing project on Filmore Street from Blanding Boulevard (SR21) to Moody Avenue the week of April 21, weather permitting. The work will include resurfacing on Kimberly Court, Rene Court, Lana Court, and Amber Court. Daytime, single-lane closures will be in place, and work could take up to 15 days to complete.
Londonberry Drive (Lakeside)- Work is anticipated to begin on a milling and resurfacing project on the subdivision roads east of Londonberry Drive, including Stonehaven Court East, Dumfries Court East, Perth Drive, Kirkwall Street, and Dundee Court East the week of April 21, weather permitting. Residents should anticipate daytime, single-lane closures once work begins. The project could take up to 21 days to complete.
Ongoing County Projects
County Road 209 (Russell Road) from Peters Creek Bridge to US 17, Bonded Transportation Program project #2 (Lake Asbury)- Anticipate intermittent, single-lane closures daily from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from U.S. Hwy 17 to Peters Creek Bridge for road work. Please slow down and use caution around the crews working close to the roadway. This project includes the design and reconstruction of the two-lane roadway into four lanes with a median, turn lanes, bike lanes, curb and gutter, and sidewalks on County Road 209 from County Road 315B to US 17, and from County Road 315 to south of Peters Creek Bridge. All work is estimated to be completed in Fall 2025.
- Crews are continuing stormwater installation on the north side of County Road 209 and continue backfilling over the piles, placing base materials, and final pavement. A traffic shift onto the new temporary pavement is also in place.
County Road 209 (Russell Road) from Sandridge Road to Peters Creek Bridge, Bonded Transportation Program project #3, A & B (Lake Asbury) – Project 3A includes the completed operational improvements at the intersections of Oak Stream Drive and County Road 209 and Watkins Road and County Road 209, including sidewalk installation. Project 3B includes the widening and realignment of Sandridge Road (CR739B) with County Road 209B and operational improvements at the intersection of County Road 209 and County Road 209 B. All work is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2025. Motorists should expect a 25 mph low-speed zone in the work area. Please slow down and use caution around the crews working close to the roadway.

3B phase of Project 3 from Robinson Ranch Road to the new roundabout intersection with County Road 209B - Clearing and grubbing is complete for the new road configuration and the pond sites, and the installation of stormwater structures is ongoing. Anticipate delays for day and evening lane closures beginning Monday, March 17, and continuing for several weeks as crews work to install underground pipe crossings on Russell Road near the new roundabout at 209 and 209B and on Sandridge Road between Robinson Ranch and Annabelle subdivisions. Choose an alternate route if possible.
County Road 216, Cathedral Oak Parkway, Bonded Transportation Program project #6B (Green Cove Springs)- Work is underway to construct a new 3.3-mile, two-lane roadway from State Road 23 to the intersection of County Road 315 and Maryland Avenue. Anticipate intermittent, daytime, single-lane closures throughout the construction zone. This project will include a grass median, bike lanes, and sidewalks. All work is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2025.
- A new traffic pattern is in place, and drivers will be using a new section of Cathedral Oak Parkway instead of the 90-degree turn on County Road 315. Residents in this area will need to drive east on CR315 and enter the roadway at the new quadrant intersection configuration.
- The installation and final grading of the limestone base is complete, and crews are continuing with the installation of sidewalks, joint use paths, sod placement and curbing. Friction course pavement and striping work is ongoing.
County Road 218, west section of Cathedral Oak Parkway (Middleburg) - Work is underway to construct a new connector road from the roundabout on County Road 218 at the entrance of Shadowlawn Elementary School to the First Coast Expressway (SR23). Work is estimated to be completed in the Summer of 2025. This project is the western section of the First Coast Expressway connector road, Cathedral Oak Parkway. This developer design/build project is estimated at 98% complete.
County Road 218, Bonded Transportation Program project #1 (Middleburg) – This project involves reconstructing and widening the 2.7-mile section of roadway from Masters Road to Pine Tree Lane into four lanes, adding a median, turn lane, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and bike lanes, and resurfacing from Cosmos Avenue to Pine Tree Lane. Road construction is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2025. The speed limit will be lowered to 25 MPG throughout the work zone for the remainder of the project. Please slow down and respect the safety of our workers.
- Pond site excavations are ongoing, and crews are installing drainage structures, removing driveways for pipe work, making pavement repairs, and placing subbase and curbing. Anticipate intermittent, single-lane closures throughout the construction zone.
County Road 220 at Lakeshore Drive West (Fleming Island)- Anticipate daytime, single-lane closures at the intersection of County Road 220 and Lakeshore Drive West for traffic signal work. The project will involve setting new poles and could take up to 12 months to complete.
- The contractor has installed the four poles for the new signalization,
County Road 220 Widening and Reconstruction Phase 1 and Phase 2 projects (Middleburg/Lakeside) - Crews began Phase 1 of the lane widening and reconstruction project on County Road 220 the week of December 16, which includes intersection improvements at Rideout Ferry Road. Phase 2 work began on January 20. Drivers can expect detours that will continue for the duration of the project. All businesses and residents will have full access to their properties. The County worked closely with emergency responders and the school district throughout the planning process.
- Work continues on Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the CR 220 widening and bridge replacement project. The first bridge piles were driven last week, and the old bridge will be removed in the upcoming weeks. Please continue to drive carefully through the construction zone and respect the construction workers.
In Phase 1, County Road 220 will be widened to four lanes from Hollars Place to west of Henley Road, ending at Chief Ridaught Trail. This project includes intersection improvements at County Road 220 and Henley Road. Henley Road will not be closed during phase 1 work and traffic will continue to flow in both directions. Drivers can expect single-lane closures and traffic shifts during the work. The project is expected to take 15 months to complete.

Road construction and intersection improvements at County Road 220 and Rideout Ferry Road began on January 6. Only local traffic will be able to access the road from the south end during the work.
Phase 2 includes widening County Road 220 to four lanes from east of Chief Ridaught Trail to Knight Boxx Road and a new four-lane bridge over Little Black Creek, along with signal updates at Knight Boxx Road and Blanding Boulevard to ease traffic congestion. Work began on January 20 and will take about 16 months to complete. Local traffic only. Bridge closure in effect.
- The County Road 220 widening and bridge replacement project are ongoing, with completion anticipated by late 2026. Drivers should slow down and exercise caution in the construction area as bridge replacement work gets underway.
CR 220 Phase 2 detour route description
Beginning February 11, drivers heading south on Blanding Boulevard can no longer make a U-turn at the Henley Road intersection to allow more time for drivers heading north on Henley Road to turn right onto Blanding Boulevard. CCSO is enforcing the no U-Turn at this intersection.
Eastbound traffic along County Road 220 at the Baxley Road intersection will be detoured north on Baxley Road, east on State Road 21, south on Knight Boxx Road, and east on County Road 220 through the left turn lane.

Westbound traffic on County Road 220 at the Henley Road intersection will be detoured north onto Henley Road through the right turn lane on the northeast corner of the intersection, west onto State Road 21, and south onto Baxley Road to County Road 220.

Westbound traffic on County Road 220 at the Knight Boxx Road intersection will be detoured north onto Knight Boxx Road, west onto State Road 21, south onto Henley Road, and west onto County Road 220.
Live Oak Lane (Middleburg)- On April 2, crews began preliminary erosion control and utility relocation work ahead of construction of the North Florida Greenway Trail and Paving Project from Live Oak Lane to the entrance to Jennings State Forest. Minimal traffic delays are anticipated at this time. All work is expected to be completed in 345 days.
Richard Lee Street (Lakeside)—Crews are working on a drainage improvement and paving project on Richard Lee Street from Constitution Drive to the dead end. Work began on January 6 and drivers should anticipate daytime, single-lane closures. The project could take up to four months to complete.
Sandridge Road, Bonded Transportation Program Project #4 (Lake Asbury) – This project includes designing and reconstructing the two-lane urban roadway, adding a turn lane, a roundabout, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and bike lanes. All work is anticipated to be completed in the spring of 2025. The speed limit is 25 mph throughout the entire work zone and CCSO is enforcing it. Traffic lanes are very narrow, please slow down and respect the safety of our workers along the roadside. This stretch of road is not accessible for wide loads while construction is ongoing. A new entrance to Ronnie VanZant Park has been built just west of the old entrance, which is now closed. This new intersection alignment provides a safer access point for east and westbound traffic. The playground access to the west of the main entrance can only be accessed by westbound traffic due to the new raised median. Eastbound traffic will need to make a U-turn to access the playground entrance.
- The contractor is entering the last phase of construction work on Sandridge Road and reports that the work is 98% complete. Crews have completed the operational improvements and stormwater management systems on most of Sandridge Road from Henley Road to the Funeral Home on the east end of Sandridge Road. Thermal plastic striping has been installed, and the project is substantially complete 35 days ahead of schedule. The contractor is working on some final punch list items and repairs. Crews will continue working days, some nights, and weekends to complete the work by fall 2025. Drivers should expect occasional delays, but roadways will remain open at all times to traffic. Please slow down and respect the safety of our workers.
Walburg Street (Green Cove Springs)- Walburg Street closed on Monday, January 6, and will remain closed for approximately 12 months during the construction of the new Clay County Economic and Development Services building.
